Tonight saw one of our club members giving a presentation on his successful Society of Photographers Licentiate panel, Bill explained the process he went through to achieve his qualification and then showed his final panel to the group whilst also including all equipment used and an insight into each image.
After the break we had a quick guide around the features of our speysidephotographygroup.co.uk website to try and encourage members to use more of its features.
Another good attendance for club night. In the first half of the evening Lenny gave an in depth demonstration on how to create a digital mount in photoshop. After a small break and in preparation for the studio 8 competition, our very own Mr Thomas Thain gave a practical demonstration of how to freeze water droplets. A fantastic demo which gave some insightful knowledge to the club members. Hopefully see you all again next week.
The Hand In dates for all competitions for this season have now been added to the calendar.
The calendar can be viewed via this link Competition Hand In Dates
All paid members should now have access to the PhotoEntry website for uploading entries in SPG competitions. If any member does not have access the please send an email to admin@speysidephotographygroup.co.uk and advise what email address you will be using for PhotoEntry.
So at long last we have a date for our first meeting since February last year.
Speyside Photography Group will meet in the Elgin Library on Tuesday 7th September at 7pm and every Tuesday up to the end of March with the exception of 21st and 28th of December.
Our first meeting will be to appoint a new committee so that we can move forward and get the club up and running again. Please put your names forward to join the committee or unfortunately there will be no club. Bill, Michael and myself will still be the backbone of the club until March at least. Hopefully a new committee will then be in place with the same enthusiasm and determination as we have shown to take this very successful club to the next level.
If you have something to say, a question to ask or want to be on the committee then please come early as the library will only allow 40 people due to covid restrictions.
It has been a very difficult time this last one and a half years for everybody but hopefully we can now see some light at the end of the tunnel and can look forward to our Tuesday nights once more.
Lenny
President
IMPORTANT NOTICE – SPG MEETINGS CANCELLED
The health of our members is very important and due to the latest guidance from the government issued today regarding the Coronavirus it is with regret that the SPG committee has decided to cancel all further meetings this season.
The AGM will be scheduled at a later date to be advised.
The dates for the 2020 Summer Outings are now available.
Last night we had guest speaker Kim Grant giving us a presentation on Landscape Photography and it was brilliant. We really wanted Kim to come to the club and do a talk for a few reasons, her passion and enthusiasm for photography as well as the fact that Kim is a local lass and loves taking pictures on the Moray Coast, so her approach to photography is something we can all relate to as well. We really hope you enjoyed it as I know that Kim loved coming to see us all at SPG and I’m sure we will be asking Kim to come back for another captivating presentation.
We really hope you have been inspired by Kim to get out with your camera and take some fantastic landscapes and seascapes.
