Print Competition Round 2

An appreciative thank you to Owen Cochrane, the SPF judge for Round 2 of our Print Competition – Monochrome, for travelling from Inverness to give considered & constructive feedback in person on all images. What proved interesting also was how he gave an insight into his process and approach to judging prints before commencing with the competition results.

We enjoyed lovely home-baked cakes by Debbie – Thank You! they were delicious!.

It was great to see everyone back last night after the break, having missed last week due to the weather conditions. Michael Ross led the evening by sharing with us his journey in photography from his first camera to his present day kit. It was an inspirational talk with amusing personal anecdotes. Later, he shared some of his photos, taking us through how the picture came about & what interests & excites him in his personal photography. A big thank you to Michael for a fab night.

Next week is a practical night. More experienced photographers can bring in an USB stick with 5 images and will have the opportunity to sit down with Lenny to get feedback etc.

Beginners/less experienced – bring in your cameras (full battery, clear SD card). There will be several more experienced members taking small groups to focus on camera settings/use etc.

Write down & bring any questions you have.

Thank you to all our members who make being a part of SPG so enjoyable!

Next week we’re back at UHI viewing the results of both the round 1 digital league (open) & development league.

The new system for joining and accessing information ran very smoothly with over 35 members signing and it was great to see and welcome some new faces who came along for the opening night giving us an attendance of 43 people, it looks like we are off to a great start for the 2024-25 season.

Lenny Smith the Club President took us through what looks to be an exciting and varied Syllabus for beginners and experienced photographers alike as well as went over whats changed in the club from last season and also how we got on with the first Summer Outings. Debbie who made some amazing cakes which along with her homemade sausage rolls went down extremely well in the half- time break.

All in all a fantastic start to our new season with thanks especially to all the committee for their hard work behind the scenes and to Debbie for her delicious cakes!
